Does TFT Give XP in 2022?

League of Legends is one of the most popular games right now, and it’s easy to see why. It’s the first full game the gaming juggernaut Riot made, and the love and care put into curating it into what it is right now really shows. Since its initial release, however, Riot has proceeded to be more adventurous and develop more games.

League was released in 2009 for the PC, but fast forward to today, and more often than not, you’ll find a Riot-developed game regardless of what platform you’re using, regardless of whether you’re on PC, Android, iOS, or even the Nintendo Switch. One such game is Teamfight Tactics.

    The Complexities of Teamfight Tactics

While it is technically a separate game, Teamfight Tactics can still be found within the original League of Legends program, or at least, that is how it is for the PC version. The mobile versions – both Android and iOS – have a separate app you can download should you wish to go that route.

If you’ve already been playing this game mode, then let us just tell you: We totally understand. It’s a great game mode, and while it isn’t for everyone, we sometimes find ourselves just looking at the time and realizing we’ve spent literal hours on this game mode when we promised ourselves it would be the last game.

Because of this, you’d be forgiven for asking the question: does it give experience points now in 2022? Does this game mode progress my League of Legends account in any way? Well, let’s find out.

    Straight to the Point

The quick answer is… unfortunately not. That is – if we’re talking about the more traditional sense of League of Legends experience points. It goes without saying, however, that you indeed gain experience points for Teamfight Tactics. If this is a bit confusing to you, let me explain.

Because Teamfight Tactics is built and lives inside the native client – for the PC version, at least – it’s easy to forget that Teamfight Tactics is a spin-off, and therefore has its own set of rules and stats. The mobile versions are completely separate apps and operate independently.

What this means is that they have their own independent experience points for you to progress in, as well as other goodies and challenges for you to complete.

That being said, it’s a one-way street. What do I mean by that, you ask? While you don’t get normal League of Legends experience from playing Teamfight Tactics, Riot has made the strange decision to gain Teamfight Tactics experience from normal League games.

Take note, we’re talking about normal experience points. When we talk about event pass experience, we do gain experience from both TFT and normal matches. If all this sounds baffling to you, don’t worry. We understand there are a lot of intricacies with how the whole experience thing works, but hopefully, we were able to clear a bit of that confusion in this article!

So what are your thoughts and experiences about how the experience system is shared between the two games? Let us know in the comments below!
