Heimerdinger can be a pretty crazy and fun-to-play champion in ARAM. He may not be in the meta very often, but, luckily, you don’t have to follow patch notes and play the most popular champions to win! Heimerdinger is the perfect example of that.

Strengths and Weaknesses
Every champion has its own strengths and weaknesses, and so does Heimerdinger. If you manage to grab a couple of kills in the early game, you won’t have to worry about his weaknesses because you’ll basically one-shot anyone who comes close to you. However, if you don’t do well in the early game, you’re going to have a tough time because everyone will be able to abuse you since Heimerdinger doesn’t have an ability that allows him to escape or juke the enemies’ spells.
You’re gonna have to be extremely cautious if you find yourself playing against the likes of Akali, Kassadin, or Fizz because Heimerdinger struggles to get away from someone who jumps or dashes every other second.
But, Heimerdiner’s greatest friends in ARAM are his cute little turrets. A big part of your playstyle will be focused on placing your turrets in the best tactical spots so you can poke down your opponents and let your allies finish them.

Best Runes For Heimerdinger In ARAM
Arcane Comet is one of the best runes for Heimerdinger in ARAM. He deals damage very consistently and easily, which means that he can always proc Arcane Comet using his turrets. If you manage to land the perfect E, you’ll stun your opponents, which means that they’ll automatically take damage from the Arcane Comet.
So, if you see that the enemy will try to take down your turret, simply use your E to stun him, which will, if you land it, proc the Arcane Comet, Manaflow Band, and the Scorch. If you manage to land your E, you can also use your W to deal some damage without taking it in return.
On the other hand, if you’re more confident, you should consider taking Electrocute instead of the Arcane Comet. With Electrocute, you’ll be able to deal more damage in a short period of time, but you’ll find yourself mana-less more often, which is a big issue, especially in ARAM.

Best Item Build for Heimerdinger in ARAM
Since you’ll start the ARAM game with 1400 gold, you should always grab two health potions and a Lost Chapter. Lost Chapter will be of great help to you in the early phase of the game because it will restore 20% of your maximum mana over 3 seconds upon leveling up. Since Heimerdinger is a squishy champion, you’re gonna need to focus on the items that will give you Ability Power, Mana, and Health. I’ll cover each of these items down below:
Liandry’s Anguish
- Ever since it was reworked, Liandry’s Anguish is probably the best item for Heimerdinger, which means that you should always buy it first. Liandry’s will give you plenty of Ability Power, Mana, and Ability Haste, which is precisely what you need in ARAM so you can survive for longer periods. Liandry’s passive, Torment, causes enemies to burn for (15 + 2.5% Ability Power) + 1% maximum health Magic damage per second for 4 seconds. While burning, your enemies will also lose 5% Magic Resis per second, which is fantastic because it will allow you to melt your opponents with your full combo.
Sorcerer’s Shoes
- Sorcerer’s Shoes are the best boots option for Heimerdinger in ARAM because of the 18 Magic Penetration they provide. You should also consider taking Mercury’s Treads if you’re facing a heavy CC comp.
Demonic Embrace
- Demonic Embrace is another excellent item on Heimerdinger in ARAM because it works perfectly with Liandry’s. Just like Liandry’s, Demonic Embrace will also burn your enemies for 1.2% max Health magic damage every second for 4 seconds. Demonic Embrace will also give you 10 Armor and Magic Resist for every champion that’s been affected by your abilities.
Morellonomicon
- Morellonomicon is one of the most essential items you’re gonna need to get if the enemy team has healing-depended champions. It applies the Grievous Wounds debuff, which lowers the healing of the enemies. This item is a must-have if the enemy team has champions like Jax, Master Yi, Yasuo, or Aatrox.
Zhonya’s Hourglass
Zhonya’s Hourglass is the best defensive item for Heimerdinger. It will provide you with the life-saving active, additional ability power, and armor to survive the fights if you find yourself in the frontline.
Rabadon’s Deathcap
As for any other mage, there isn’t a better item than Rabadon’s Deathcap. Heimerdinger can one-shot any squishy champion on the enemy team with his full combo after getting Rabadon’s Deathcap. The sooner you get it, the sooner you’ll be able to delete your opponents from the map.
Summoner Spells
Flash is a “must-have” Summoner Spell on Heimerdinger because he’s not a very mobile champion. As for the 2nd Summoner Spell, you should take either Heal or Ignite, whatever you feel more comfortable with!
